Alison graduated from Grant MacEwan Community College with a Diploma in Music. Alison received her Master Gardener certification from the Calgary Zoo in 1998 and began offering voice in community settings in 2000.
After specializing in therapeutic music and gardening programs with older adults both in care and in the community for many years, Alison felt called to explore ministry. Although she continued to work part time as a Recreation Therapist, she began to work with children, youth and families in the United Church and in 2011, fulfilled the requirements to become a Designated Lay Minister.
In the same year, Alison discovered Shalom Mountain, a leading-edge retreat and study center in New York State that explores personal growth, relationships, love, the evolution of consciousness on the planet, and what it means to be fully alive. In 2015, while in retreat at Shalom Mountain, she felt called to move beyond the church to live out what she feels she has been uniquely designed for; to be in service of others on their path of healing and self-discovery on a full-time basis. She received her ‘Training in the Art of Loving’ certification in 2016 and her ‘Shalom Retreat Leadership Training’ certification in 2018.
Upon completion of her training at Shalom Mountain, Alison began updating her existing skills as a therapist and vocal coach. In 2020, she celebrated 20 years of empowering people to find and reclaim their voice through singing, and she received her certification as a Numa Breathwork Facilitator from Numa Somatics in Calgary, Alberta. In 2021 she graduated from the Northwest Pathwork and Core Energetics Institute in Portland, Oregon, and her certification as a Core Energetics Practitioner in 2023.
